Adventurous Christians

This past weekend I went on a retreat with my church. We went to a Covenant Pines ministry camp up in the North Woods. It’s about 26 miles down the Gunflint Trail from Grand Marais. Our main focus was studying the book of James a few of my favorite verses from that book was:

James 1:19            Let everyone be quick to listen, slow to speak, slow to anger.

James 2:15-16      If a brother or sister is naked and lacks daily food, and one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and eat your fill,” and yet you do not supply their bodily needs, what is the good of that?

James 4:13-14      Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a town and spend a year there, doing business and making money.” Yet you do not even know what tomorrow will bring.

James 3:5 “Likewise the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts. Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark.”

Most of the time we hung out in the lodge. Now when you think of a lodge you think of a big huge cabin feeling space. Well that was not the case with this lodge. You really got to know one another quite well especially during brunch and supper when we had to fit in space smaller than double door garage! I got to know so many more people from my church that I hadn’t known that well before. So I guess you could say it was a blessing in disguise. When we weren’t in the lodge playing games or drinking hot cocoa. A group of us built a quinzee village. Now the closest thing I can compare a quinzee too is an igloo but made of snow. I will be making another blog post about how to make one and how it went so stay tuned!
