Adventurous Christians

My Adventures, Uncategorized

This past weekend I went on a retreat with my church. We went to a Covenant Pines ministry camp up in the North Woods. It’s about 26 miles down the Gunflint Trail from Grand Marais. Our main focus was studying the book of James a few of my favorite verses from that book was:

James 1:19            Let everyone be quick to listen, slow to speak, slow to anger.

James 2:15-16      If a brother or sister is naked and lacks daily food, and one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and eat your fill,” and yet you do not supply their bodily needs, what is the good of that?

James 4:13-14      Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a town and spend a year there, doing business and making money.” Yet you do not even know what tomorrow will bring.

James 3:5 “Likewise the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts. Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark.”

Most of the time we hung out in the lodge. Now when you think of a lodge you think of a big huge cabin feeling space. Well that was not the case with this lodge. You really got to know one another quite well especially during brunch and supper when we had to fit in space smaller than double door garage! I got to know so many more people from my church that I hadn’t known that well before. So I guess you could say it was a blessing in disguise. When we weren’t in the lodge playing games or drinking hot cocoa. A group of us built a quinzee village. Now the closest thing I can compare a quinzee too is an igloo but made of snow. I will be making another blog post about how to make one and how it went so stay tuned!

The North Shore

My Adventures

A month and a half ago my Family and I finally took a trip up north. One of the reasons we went up North, besides my begging, was we looked at UMD for a future college for me. It was an absolutely beautiful campus, but what I loved even more was the adventures that surround it.

I hope you enjoy.

My first Night Shoot

My Adventures

Dad and I drove for about two and a half hours last night before we found the perfect spot just north of Foley, MN. Took me awhile to get the right settings on my camera but I figured it out and got these stunning shots! We got home just after two in the morning but it was worth it. Hope we can go out again sometime in the near future.

and calls them each by name. Psalm 147:4

My Adventures

We took a day Vacation this Saturday to Wisconsin to explore the little towns alongside the Mississippi! We drove for what seemed like forever. We checked off a few more stunning State parks along the way. Then made our way to a little harbor and ate dinner at the Pickle Factory! There I took a few shots here are my favorites.

Montana

My Adventures

A week and a half ago I was blessed to be able to go on a trip with my youth group. We spent five days at Montana Wilderness School of the Bible. The school is tucked away on the outskirts of Lewis and Clark National forest. After 22 hours I got out of the bus the day we arrived, the mountains and forests were towering over me. It was different then anything I have ever experienced before even though I have been out west many times. This place just felt very different. We had no contact to the outside world yes that means no Snapchat, Instagram or any other social media platform. I wasn’t sure how I was going to feel about being away from my phone. Come to find out I loved it. Being in the midst of Gods creation was enough for me. We went through the intellectual book of Hebrews. This book challenged me to dig deeper in my understanding of the Bible as a whole. Some of my favorite verses from Hebrews are:

“Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as you did in the rebellion.” Hebrews 3:15

“Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account.” Hebrews 4:13

“We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain.” Hebrews 6:19

The week included; cliff jumping, tubing down rapids, devotions every morning alongside the clearest river in the US, waking up at 4:45 to see the sunrise, worship, hiking, swimming in 50 degree glacier water because we had no other way to get off the cliff, worship songs around the campfire and so much more.

Here are a few of the 800 pictures I took that week:
